Ever seen this side mounted trimmer mower?

My neighbor recently bought one of these. Seems to be in great shape. He has it mounted to a JD 4100 now, and just needs the electical connection done yet before he can test it. Sure makes a cool zero turn out of that tractor!

Yea, I hope he can keep from wrecking it long enough for me to watch it actually mow once. Rollie and I think the ultimate version of this idea would be a belt drive system instead of the Briggs engine. The belt drive could come off the rear PTO of the compact tractor, and the belly mower still runs off the mid PTO. The belt drive to the side mower would be way lower profile so the mower would fit under the spruce limbs real nice.

That is the Gravely 40" Wing Mower. It's made to fit a Gravely four wheel rider tractor. If you get the urge to sell it, I am looking for one. Steve in KY.

I've seen 3 or 4 similar side mowers and just like them this one also has to short of a reach out from the side of the tractor.

The geometry of the connection is specific to the Gravely tractors only. It works great as designed for those tractors. Any other use will vary in success.

My neighbor received the front/side bracket with it. He drilled and tapped three holes in the loader mount arm of the JD 4100. The bracket fit, he bent it down slightly, and installed the draw rod. Then the stbilizer to the tractor drawbar was connected and it works for him. I can't see how it needs even any adjustment, amazingly.

Those were made from 81 to 91. Sold for $4000 new. St.Marys hospital in Rochester Mn had one or two but wore them out or traded them in years ago. Gravely made a larger tractor with a belly mower plus a 50" wing mower that was powered off of the rear PTO. I think Jacobsen built a tractor almost identical in concept to it. What town are you in? You can PM me if you don't want to post your town. I would really love to see one in action if your neighbor doesn't mind.
