Last night I had to do a little dirt work for my wife. I moved our daughter's playhouse because it was right where the new plum trees needed to be. No sweat.....but....
There were some old 4 to 8 inch stumps where
I cut the trees 2 years ago when we were clearing some land. (pre Kubota days!) Surprisingly, they all came out in 15 minutes or so. I was happy to be done so quickly! (I thought!) I was using the loader and boxblade to rake out roots and smooth the earth when I snagged on something solid, REAL solid... Looked like a small old stump, but I didn't recall cutting a tree there. BUT it was in the EXACT spot the plum tree was supposed to be.
This called for a little exploratory digging, but as I dug, it got bigger, and bigger, and BIGGER..... Anyway, my pride insisted that the offending stump come out. I couldn't let my wife think there was at last a task that my faithful Bota couldn't do. I ran out of light last night so I mulled on what to do while at work today. Got home and after a little work, the pictures speak the rest of the story. I DID make a well where that root went in to the earth, it had almost 2 feet of water when I went to fill it in tonight! It is a 9 foot long fatwood stump that looks like it was cut with an axe!
