Essentialube from Hydrotex?

Anyone familiar with essentialube? It is a fuel and oil additive. I have came across a drum of the stuff and wonder if anyone is/has used this?
It was intended for gasoline and diesel engines. This drum has to be over 25 years old...
I am wondering if it could be used with todays catalytic systems and ethanol gasolines, or with todays low/no surfer diesels? KennyV

I'd pass on it. After 25 years who knows what it has broken down to. There's no point in taking the chance of damaging your equipment.

Haven't heard of that stuff in a long time - during my apprenticeship with Cadillac & Oldsmobile in the early 70's we used it for cleaning carbon from those big blocks' valves, and in the oil too for de-gunking lifters. Worked fantastic - a little better than ATF. It still smoked the whole place up but it really did the job. We'd run the engine up a little and trickle it down the carb for about 1/2 the quart then dump a bunch all at once to kill the engine then let it set overnite. If there was some left in the can , it would go into the oil. It was a little less expensive than GM top engine lube and worked just as good or better. If I remember right it was manufacured in Texas. I think I'd pass on it too, not knowing how stable the stuff was for long periods.

If the drum isn't properly sealed I would not use it. Essentialube is still a widely used product. It is made everyday and can be purchased through Hydrotex.com, you can get it in a spray bottle, quarts, single gallons, 20 gallon drum ,55 gallon drum or a 275 gallon plastic tote.
