Oh I've heard those are really nice machines! I've never used a ESAB machine, I use to own a Linde VI-206, which ESAB bought out Linde a few years ago. The VI-206 had inductance control, it was amazing how much control that had over the puddle:shocked:. You could wet out the puddle for flat welding, or really dry it out for vertical uphill welding.:cool2: Only reason I bought the VI-206 in the early 80s I sheeted an 80' X 80' X 70' tall building with 4' X 8' X 10-GA sheets of steel at the Boeing Space Center. All welds were 100% penetration. All vertical welds were uphill. Super nice control with those machines!

I have a MM250 and love the arc quality. They are descended from an L-tec machine and are proven over decades.

ESAB no longer makes any welders. They source them from Europe. The MM250 was a very very tough 250 amp down and dirty tap transformer machine. They were made in South Carolina. The only thing I ever heard negative in them was that incredible loud fan. The unit had a large transformer and needed a large fan to achieve duty cycle. They are easy and inexpensive to fix and if I was in the market for that type of welder, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if it looked good. I had the red Airco version, green L-Tec version and the yellow ESAB version back in the day..

I have a MIGmaster 250 myself. Tough...made forever to last nearly forever. Didn't change them much in over 20 years of production...just the wire feeders mostly.

Years ago I had a L tec migmaster 225. I hated selling it. It was a rock solid machine. You can't go wrong with these machines

The Migmaster 250 was a very good machine but one of the problems with Esab, here anyways, is getting parts. There is an Esab warehouse right here but they very rarely have the parts you're looking for. I remember hearing of a bad circuit board or something in a Migmaster 250 years ago but not many other problems I've ever heard with them. I know a guy that had one and he loved it. I would definitely try it out and see how it welded before purchasing though. Very comparable to equivalent machines from Lincoln and Miller. Some people liked them better. They were one of the first machines with a direct plug in for a spool gun. What kind of price were they asking?

ESAB machines are well built machines and they do weld good. My local weld supplier does stock consumables for them in my area. Only problem I've seen with them is they are hard to resell if you want to sell it. Miller , Hobart and Lincoln have the resell value.
