I'm confused why Massey chooses to have so many engine manufacturers in its SCUT and CUT categories.

Sub compact GC1705 thru GC1720 is the familiar Iseki name . . a long tradition.

Compact economy 1726e thru 1739e is the Shibaura brand engines.

Compact premium 1736 thru 1759 is Mitsubishi.

I don't understand why Iseki wouldn't be more involved.

I don't understand how having 3 manufacturers reduces complexity or benefits overall reliability choices.

It would seem just the reverse . . more entities to deal with and greater service and supplier complexity.

As with any company they choose there suppliers based on cost, availability and hopefully reliability. Isekei manufactures alot of engines for many manufacturers same with mistubishi. You would have to ask coprorate why they chose what for each tier. I can see that Iseki specializes in small engines for AGCO, thier own brand tractors and many others. I think that with the exception of the impliments the subcompact tractors are Iseki with the MF and AGCO corporate log on it. My BH and Loader show only AGCO\MF names stamped on them and made in USA stamps.

Isaac makes the entire machine for the GC series, not just the engine. The new loader and backhoe for the GC series is made by a Sweedish owned company located in TN.

I have no doubt that AGCO/MF puts out the engine for bid, just like the other parts they buy. When you think of the engine as a single part, its not so complicated to have several engines for different tractor lines...

I think has to do with the tier 4 switch. Iseki may not have had a tier 4 engine ready, so AGCO decided to purchase an engine that was already tier 4 and install that instead. LS just did the same thing... They temporarily switched to Shibaura engines while tooling their engine factory for tier 4... And now will be putting in their own tier 4 engines.

I'm wondering if Iseki will be doing that as well...?

Very happy with the Iseki diesel in my 1648, but I've got no problem with the Mitsubishi or Shibaura engines either.

Iseki builds all the tractors... I heard this is emissions related. Iseki could not meet T4 Final yet.

Well see . . that is my confusion. I'm wondering what percentage of the subcompacts are Iseki built? And does Iseki build any part of the compact and compact premium line (excluding the engines).

I don't believe its just "bidding out engines is such a simple thing". The parts, engineering, technics of fit and assembly and service/service training are more complicated than some seem to think.

I remember issues for some companies just in changing kohler engines from Command to Courage models caused parts and servicing issues let alone entire company segments.

So I have to believe Iseki is closer involved in the compact and compact premium models than it appears.

Iseki builds the entire Massey CUT line, and even builds the 4600 series utility tractors now.

The loaders had come from Soo Manufacturing in Iowa, but now come from ALO Quicke.

The Engines are either from Iseki, Shibaura, or Mitsubishi ... or in the case of the 4600 series, it's an AGCO Power (affiliate owned) engine.

AGCO Power is SISU, which was bought with Valtra a few years back.
