Hi all, I have a leaking front engine crank seal that I plan on changing, searching for any info on this task but I come up with nothing.

I am wondering if I have to remove the front gear case to do the job? Should I replace just the seal or the oil slinger, spacer, etc?

How difficult is the job?

Thanks.

It does appear that the gear case must come off. I would pull the crank pulley off and see what you can see. You're going to need a few other o-rings for the oil filter port passageways and such, that also run through the case. Once you get the case off, have a look, there may or may not be more items to change out. The slinger ring and bushings are super cheap, certainly wouldn't hurt to have them on hand when doing the job.
