Ok, today I decided to change the oil on my BX2660. I also have a block heater that I was going to install (getting ready for winter). When I took off the cowling, I noticed that there is an oil port on the left hand side of the enging (left side when sitting in operator's seat). Unfortunately, I put a quart of 10W30 oil into that port before I realized that it may not be an engine oil port. Can someone tell me if this is an engine oil port or a transmission oil port? Also, if it is not for engine oil, how do I drain the "oil" tht this port is for?

Where on the engine was this port located? Can you post a picture of the port in question?

Here are some pictures. They are from left side of tractor when viewed from driver's seat. I took cowling off to get a better view.

its engine oil fill. To drain, there is a oil plug on oil pan underneath just like a car.

Is there another spot that appears to be an engine oil fill that would make you question your judgement?
Your pics look to have that oil cap just ahead of the injector pump. I don't have a BX so it's hard for me to know for sure.

On my BX2350 the oil is dumped in on top of the valve cover, more or less the very top of the egnine. That looks like it is oil for the injector pump? This still may lead to the crankcase though? I'm not sure how much different your engine is than mine. One thing for sure, its not the transmission, thats at the back of the tractor.

on most small kubota engines there is a oil filler cap on both sides of engine ,its there because these engines are installed in all kinds of machines, I know my bx25 had two oil filler caps, a picture would help

There is another port on top of the engine valve cover. I only noticed this one because I had the cowling off looking for the place on the engine to install my block heater. After putting in one quart though this port, I switched to the port on the valve cover (it was under the air intake hose that goes to the air filter).

Hi Taos,
I uploaded some images a few minutes ago ... I have not started the engine yet after changing the oil because I want to make sure I did not accidentally contaminate my hydraulic oil.

Thanks for the quick reply!!
