Engine Oil for NH TZ25DA

Need some help. I have been trying to cross reference some oils to do an upcoming oil change for my tractor. I have a NH TZ25DA and I have attached the specs for Engine Oil. I have been having trouble cross referencing different types I can use but in the notes from my last owner it says She’ll Rotella 15W40 Heavy Duty Diesel... it’s not synthetic just the T4 stuff. I live in Maine and winter is coming up. Not sure if this is the right stuff or if I should use the 15W40 vice a 10W30. I hear the my preform different even though one is metric and the other is US. Any advice on what to use would be appreciated.

The engine manufacturer specs should include the API Service Category, ie: API CC, CD... CK4
Once you know what API Service Category your machine requires, you can decide upon the viscosity. It would seem by your image that they are listing all acceptable oil weights without any associated ambient temperature. Most manuals I've looked at specify a particular oil weight for a specific ambient temperature range.
Generally speaking, the lower "W" (winter) number is better in cold climates. A 0w-xx will thicken less in cold temps than a 5w-xx oil. For cold climates like your area, I would personally select a 0w-30, or 0w-40 oil. 5w30 or 5w-40 would be fine also.
There are plenty of folks that use 10w-xx or 15w-xx year round also, so you will likely get lots of opinions.
You really do need to get the correct API classification of oil specified by the engine manufacturer though.

For your area, I'd definitely get a 0w30 or 0w40 oil. Hard to find here. Hopefully, the auto supply stores and Walmart will have them up there. Don't believe those upper temperature charts for engine oil. Think they're for air cooled engines; otherwise, they don't make sense. A 0w30 oil is perfectly fine for all year round.

That chart you showed is not specs, just availability at the time your tractor was produced.

So any 0w30 Heavy Duty Oil for Diesel Engines will work fine? Doesn’t need to be a certain type? I’ve done a million oil changes on my vehicles throughout the years but for some reason the tractor makes me nervous because everything is so vague. Want to make sure I do it right. Synthetic or non synthetic.. any preferences?

Just what I showed in the picture is all I found in the manual but I don’t know if that means any heavy duty diesel 15W-40 or 10W-30 or only AMBRA equivalent.

I did a bit of surfing on the Ambra brands of lubricants. They are mostly available in Europe. I have found no direct cross for them. They are the ONLY lubricants recommended by New Holland. I'm not sure they have an API or equivalent rating. They're kind of different.

Rotella t5 5w30 synthetic is roughly $21 a gallon at homedepot.

If your machine is still inder warrenty buy oil/filter from the dealer. Either way you need to know a weight and temp range for the engine at the very least

Why would I need to know weight and temp range if everyone is saying I can use anything from 0W-30 to 15W-40... aren’t those on both ends of the spectrum? So I can use any Diesel engine oil and he fine? I really just don’t know enough about the details about engine oil and the benefits/drawbacks of using different ones.... besides using a lighter weight in the winter months.
