engine Oil dip stick

I lost my engine oil dip stick. I cant find another, can i use a different dip stick if i grind it down to the demintions of the old dip stick? What other dip sticks can i use and what are the demintions of a Massey Ferguson 165 engine oil dip stick?

There is nothing overly unique about a dipstick other than the marks on it. Take a piece of wire and push it down in the hole to see how long it has to be, measure the diameter of the hole to see how wide it should be and go to a auto recycling lot and find a dipstick, preferably too long so you ca cut it down if need be. Change your oil, put in the right amount, and measure it with your new dipstick. Take a mini grinder and cut a mark in at this "full" level registered by your new dipstick. You are all set.

It's dimension btw. As Cougsfan suggests. I've lost a lot of stuff but a dipstick isn't one of them. Just make sure the sealing grommet on the replacement dipstick fits snugly ion the dipstick hole.
