is anybody having problems with deere engines leaking fluids due to lack of gaskets and their use of sealants. have 10 tractors all 5325 and all have leaked and are continuing even after dealer has resealed:( Today I found deere engine in air compressor leaking at oil pan now I have to remove engine and compressor from unit to remove pan

It sounds like it could be environmental. 10 for 10 5325s would be unusual enough, but the compressor would make this highly doubtful it's just Deere that would have issues. Not only is it a completely different engine, but I'd also suspect it's not made by Deere (they probably just paint someone else's compressor green and slap a decal on it, at the very least they'd buy the engine).

Is it possible that you're near something caustic that's eating away the gaskets? Having lived near the shore for a while I know salt water can do nasty stuff. Where is the equipment stored? If it's not in a barn could the cold temperatures be causing issues? If it is could there be some sort of gas leaking from the area (in the Eastern US radon is an issue due to the uranium in the mountains)? Do your neighbors have any issues? Do you have any issues with your cars/trucks? Did your dealer identify the source of the leak as a faulty/misaligned/damaged gasket?

All the Deere equiptment I have owned none has developed leaks. GM products on the other hand all seep or leak.

engine is genuine deere. the local dealers have said there is a problem with sealant but when you by 10 units in one year you don't expect this many lemons. as far as atmosphere all units are spread out over 100 mile radius

How about an issue with the oil being used? That would get to me.

Must be the cheap sealant on that series or build dates because Deere is not known for engine leaks. Were all 10 built around the same time?? I would ask to speak to Deere tech rep. Buying 10 tractors I would think you would have some "pull"

we recieved 5 in april last year and the other 5 in the fall . I think 3 of them were next unit on the line

That is a head scratcher:confused: Does the engine tag say where mfg'd? If they have been "fixed" once I would think after that it would be a poor repair by Dealer. You would not think the service sealant would be the same as factory stuff(at the very least, a different lot #) Let us know what you find!!

Is the engine is a Deere 5030--a five cylinder, 3.0 liter? If it is, I believe the dealer recomends 0w40 oil. This oil is used because of the hydraulic lifters and the hydraulic timing advance. Also, I have noticed several of the 4024 and 5030 engines are lacking sufficient sealant on the pan. The sealant is called Hylomar and when the proper amount is used, it seals very good.
