Yeah, I was surprised when I was out in that area that the roads are not crowned with side drainage like they are here. Out there the roads are opposite, funnelling all the water to the center of the street and then to some dry washes. The entire road becomes a huge gutter, and sometimes, a raging torrent. Yikes!
