Ok, so I've only run my new B2601 twice over the winter months.
Back in the fall I put her away in the garage. She would leave a good size cloud of exhaust smoke at start up. ( A small nuclear flume )
Also, It would take about three -five seconds for her to start.
Now during start up, there is next to no smoke at all coming from the exhaust.
Just a slight show of smoke, less than a small puff from a Cigar.
She also starts with just the flick of the key, almost electric.
Run the glow plug for five seconds, turn the key and she's instantly alive.
I cannot even hear the starter engage, she starts so instantly.
Did she just break in? ( 45 ) Hours.
The little girl is like a different beast now.
Hey,, this is my first time owning a Diesel engine. :)
The only other Diesel I own is my furnace in the basement to keep me warm during the winter. :)

One question is how warm is it now compared to your original more smokey start ups? Its a lot easier for a diesel to start up when it is warmer. (25F vs. 65F degrees where you store your tractor, for example.)

I believe that Kubotas have a recommended 50-hour break in period. I would say yours is broken in. However, I'm thinking that you are not running your Kubota much. I'm thinking that you should pay attention to your fuel. I'm no mechanic, however, I think you should be adding some additives so that you don't have a problem with moisture or gelling.

My outside temp has been all over the place since November.
60 above to -15.
Correct, I haven't used her much since purchasing her last August. ( Under 50 in nine months )
I'm not positive, though, I think we have additives in the Diesel for Winter months here in NH for moisture or gelling.
She sits in my garage stored out of the weather.
When she was brand new it would take 3-5 seconds to come to life, including a big bunch of exhaust smoke.
Now, it's only a flick of the key during cold start up, little to no smoke. Just a little puff.
I basically purchased the machine to help with cleaning out my chicken coops and pig pens.
Doing that stuff by hand was really starting to suck.
Also, I purchased a Land Pride box blade to help in repairing and replacing my yard.
The yard that my Six German Shepherds have destroyed over the years. :)

For your limited use;I would only purchase may-be 10 gallons of fuel at a time;winter blend/summer blend makes a difference on how a diesel runs.I generally use mine year round but a low snow fall winter left me with winter blend for spring chores.I noticed the difference in fuel used(more).I add PowerService year round also;never had a problem with either tractor starting.
