This is the last of my winter projects. A couple months ago I mounted my old HF engine hoist on a SSQA plate, it makes a very useful mobile hoist. I also had in mind putting my Remington pole saw on it. I've had this saw forever and really like it. But it gets heavy at arm's length, and doesn't reach all that far for big trees.

So I made a couple of clamps to hold it to the boom. The pieces of 2" angle keep the clamps from crushing the fiberglass pole. It goes really high and also drops branches way out in front of the tractor. I control it from a weather resistant switch mounted on the ROPS.

That is flat-out ingenious! Do have your generator on a carryall?

Within a couple hundred feet of the buildings I just run heavy extension cords. I have in the past put a generator on a carryall and grabbed it with the backhoe to work farther away, that works too.

Great idea. I need to do something like that to trim the oaks around the driveway, to keep from ripping the TV antenna off my 5th wheel. Beats the heck out of standing in the bucket and trimming.

I use a boat battery and a 1000 watt ac converter

I've had a similar idea, but never have implemented it (I'd hang one of my regular Stihl gasoline saws, likely the 14" bar unit, on some sort of pole.) But as it seems to work, I'll start looking for a good pole!

That's one heck of rig, good job. I'm guessing the pole flexes enough as to not put to much pressure on your chain bar.

That's a good point. I thought about using a length of stiff heavy wall square tube, but decided that stronger is not always better. The pole flexes probably 6 inches up and down, which avoids damage to everything else if I get started on a branch too hard.

I like the idea of a pivoted saw to cut from the top of the limp and use only the weight of the saw.

Here's one:
