I'm sure everyone will be hearing all about this "Edge" all electric ZTR as soon as the company starts rolling production out. It looks good and interesting, and I hope it is successful. But to those interested, keep in mind how much you are spending and if it is worth the gamble to spend that much on a product that is not built or backed by an established manufacturer. I believe this mower comes from those who were associated with the now deceased "Raven," and that hybrid machine didn't exactly bring a happy experience for too many consumers. Hopefully this new machine will work out for the better.

Was looking at a Lowes/Craftsman ad today and they listed a 30" cut electric riding mower. $2500

Not that new of an idea.

They actually make mention of the Elec-trak history in their advertising. Hope they don’t have to change the name right out of the gate. Edge is a trademark of John Deere, and the name of another ZTR made by Encore.

Just in doing a little research and based on my humble opinions, "Edge" looks to be another company trying to enter the market with an electric mower that isn't offering much of anything above its closest competition, the Ryobi ZT480E that people can buy today at Home Depot and has been receiving excellent reviews. They are nearly identically spec'ed machines. That Lowes has picked up the Craftsman name and looks to be building strongly on MTD produced machines including electric mowers, I doubt they will be interested in selling the Edge offering as they did with the Raven. This says to me that in order to offer free shipping on their mower and price it in line with competition, something has to give somewhere in order for Edge to profit. With the former Raven, the "give" came in the form of product quality, mainly inexpensive materials and components. So much so, that the first generations of the Raven machine were all recalled.
