\"Economy\" model tractors

As some of you may know, I find the Economy models that most of the brands keep around to be a good deal. Most are around the 30hp range. Usually they have a lot of capability, are proven, and and can be had for a good bit less than the latest designs. They are missing a few conveinience features, don't have modern styling, but you get a lot of "bang-for-the-buck". Here are the ones I can think of:

1. Kioti LK3054XS - 30hp, 3000lbs, shuttle shift, live PTO
2. NH TC30 - 30hp, 2200lbs, std gear/HST, live PTO
3. Kubota L2800 - 28hp, 2500lbs, std gear
4. Kubota L3400 - 34hp, 2600lbs, std gear, live PTO
5. JD 790 - 27hp, 2100lbs, std gear
6. MF 1428v - 28hp, 2000/2350lbs, std gear/HST, live PTO

Yeah, I put the Kioti up top, cause I know it best & like it alot - does anyone know of any others? I think the MF 1428V fits in here. It would be intersting to see the price comparision, at least list price. There are a few in other power/size ranges too, like the Kioti LB1914 and JD 990.

Re: \"Economy\" model tractors

In the Massey Ferguson line up the economy model can be had as a 1428v, 1433v, 1440v or a 1455v. The "v" represents Value in the model number. Just drop the "v" from the model and have the "deluxe" version model number.

I would put the the Century/Zetor in line with Kioti...I really liked Kioti, Zetor was willing to make a deal however. I thought the workmanship to be (very good) equivalent as well as the country of origin.

Re: \"Economy\" model tractors

I have a Kubota L3000DT w/ LB402and even though it's a economy i have been very happy with it!
No it doesnt have the digital dash and it is a basic design in the cockpit area but it's a tractor that flat works!!!!
Now i added a toolbox and now a skidplate. oh and tie rod boot protectors and working on a toothbar and special water jug etc... holder right there close to my FEL valve.

I guess i am turning it into a super economy! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I want a roof also!

Hi,

I love the economy stuff. Sure those fancy gadgets are nice, but not really needed!! Function over form!!

Take care

Re: \"Economy\" model tractors

I bought a MF 1428v Hydro this spring and it's a super tractor.

To tell the truth, I don't even know what the difference is between the Value & Deluxe MF tractors. I think someone said the Value tractors have side panels on the hood instead of a hood that tilts. I actually like the side panels! And they're made of METAL!!

The 1428v hydro, 1464 FEL, and filled A4's was 15k delivered. I got a 5' Woods Slip Clutch Brush Hog & 7' rear blade thrown in for an extra grand.

Re: \"Economy\" model tractors

I'm sure Century/Zetor has some stuff that fits the economy description, I'm just not familiar with their line. Actually, I didn't mean to imply that all of the Kioti models were in the economy model group, as I don't think the CKs and DKs fit that description. They are full-featured, top end models in every way.

I guess it's not the most well defined catagory, as some manufacturers seem to have a multitude of models that fit in! Still, there seemed to be a few models that had something in common.

Re: \"Economy\" model tractors

They're also called "price" tractors because they're worth what they cost! This leaves room in the budget for more implements or, better yet, a larger machine! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: \"Economy\" model tractors

For a minute I thought you meant the "Economy" brand name tractors made by the folks you gave you "Jim Dandy" and "Power King", which may have been the creme of the garden tractors in the old days when that meant small tractors instead of overgrown lawn mowers. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
