I'm looking at a weed trimmers and it seems like Stihl has you locked into there dealer network. It seems like Echo has a looser dealer network for replacement parts. That brings up my question is there any web sights that I can order all factory replacement parts for a Echo or Stihl? machine?

Everyone here and at other sites are willing to help you find parts. I have both, and yes it feels like that the dealers are impartial to what you my feel is reasonable, but the relationship you build with the dealer is important.

You will only be taken advantage of once!

There are many online dealers of parts in USA, compared to us in Canada. We have most of the time order from you guys, it is bad enough that sometimes we find deals in the US that are about 20% of the cost of what we pay in Canada.
Also, if you look at the sponsors of this forum and of http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/forum.php you will find lots of parts. If you still can not ask us for help, most of us will when sitting around having coffee waiting for our wives getting ready, will see if we can find it for you. LOL Sorry wives, just kidding.

Good luck

Echo parts are easy to order online, including eBay -- I got some great Echo parts prices on eBay recently, which made it feasible to rebuild a saw. If I had paid full price, it wouldn't have been worth it. You can get some Stihl stuff online, but nothing like Echo. I have ordered a few Stihl parts online, but in most cases I have had to go through a dealer for anything specific.

Thanks, I don't won't to be stuck finding parts and it looks like HD has some things in stock sow a Sunday part pickup might be possible. I'm thinking of getting a SRM-280S with blade kit are the SRM-280 models good?

Home Depot does not carry parts for Echo machines. Not really. You end up going to a dealer for real parts beyond a fuel filter or spark plug, at least at my local Home Depot. My Stihl dealer is open on Sundays and has a decent parts inventory. The local Echo dealer is not open on Sundays. That said, I have not had to get parts for my Echo or Stihl on a Sunday yet.

Stihl parts are easier to get around here....I know of at least 2 Stihl dealers open on Sunday local. I recently picked up a Stihl 130R Kombi setup with cultivator and brushcutter and I've got to say it's impress. I still like my Husqvarna 326 ldx but didn't like Husqvarnas cultivator attachement (2 wheels instead of 4) so I bought the Stihl setup. The Husqvarna beats it on weight but the power of that Stihl is over the top....very nice high torque engine...you don't need to have the left wide open throttle all day to use it. It has good power down low.
