Echo string trimmer/hedge clipper conversion.

I currently have the SRM-210 string trimmer. I want to know if anyone knows if I could take the hedge trim head off the split-boom (210SB hedge clipper attachment) and mount it on the business end of my 210. It would appear that the only difference between the two is that the boom separates to accommodate the attachments, and that the trim/clipper heads would attach to the end of the shaft/cable in an equivalent manner.

I understand the warranty issues, etc., but I'll only be using it to do some light "consumer" hedge clipping so don't anticipate that I'll exceed the engineering capabilities of the combination.

Anyone have any thoughts and or experience?

yip you should be able to
do that with me stihl, i wanted a 0-90 degree head and the guy took it off a split shaft cutter and gave it to me. its the same thing im lead to believe so no damage done, its still good after 2 years ands its done some mega hard work

just a q on the side, why cant you just get a clipper attachment to go on yours without the split boom or does echo not sell them?

Echo doesn't make the attachment for the 210 trimmer without the split boom. When I spoke to them directly, the person didn't know wether or not the clipper head would attach and then proceeded to give me a lot of BS about warranty, safety, etc.

I just want to know if they are smart enough to have made the means of connecting to the models for which the clipper is listed as an attachment unique to them or would the clipper attach to the other models also. It would seem that making it unique would be an added tooling expense that they would probably try to avoid.
