1994 Kubota B7100 HST 4WD
Got a B7100 HST 4WD and want to do some maintenance before I start using it. This is my first real tractor and diesel engine ever and I'm wondering what fluids it has.

How many different fluids are there for the engine/HST? Are the diffs shared fluid or separate?

What engine oil do I use?
What coolant mixture do I use?
What HST and/or gear oil do I use for the trans/diffs?

What I would do...

Engine oil, regular multi weight oil for your local climate
Coolant, whatever is on the label, I think usually a 50/50 mix
HST - Kubota UDT or of you want to spend more Kubota SUDT. This has been debated forever, Regular tractor oil at TSC is about the same thing for less money. I don't have an HST but I use the TSC/Walmart stuff.

You have some filters in the HST area I believe to. I buy Kubota filters since there is not much difference in the cost.

Good Luck and enjoy.

I recommend an oil for the engine that is meant for tractors not trucks or cars! Most people know that tractors run at full throttle mostly not at idle or 1/2 throttle or less all day! There is a difference in the engine life with better oils although some maintain they are all the same. Some also say all tractors are the same! Makes me wonder when they will only buy a chevy or ford car or truck, how about you?

There are several spots on the front axle and they take the same fluids as the rear differential and can be substituted with gear oil.

great, thanks guys. So there are 4 fluids to change:
1 Engine
2 HST
3 Rear diff
4 Front diff

So I use standard automotive products (proper weight of course for the tractor) for oils and coolant (except for HST)? There's no "tractor" specific fluids (except HST!).

Thanks!

You need engine oil that is designed for diesel. Most Wal-mart stock is for gasoline engine.

Great, thanks guys. i gathered the diesel oil, thanks for clarifying that.

What about coolant - is that just straight antifreeze like a car?

Thanks for the link, i have lots of Kubota info printed out and am stopping by a dealer Friday hopefully to get tune up parts and ordered some catalogs.
