Oil & Fuel Easy option for adding fuel

/ Easy option for adding fuel #3
Every time I see one of those 5 gallon can containers used to fuel a tractor, I am thankful that I found my used 100 gallon tanks with 15 GPM pump and 10 micron filter. I fought those cans for a couple months when I got my first tractor, slipped off the tire a few times while standing on it to lift the can to the tractor tank.
I don't care how easy it is to use, a 5 gallon container is a PIA to just lift to the hood of a tractor especially a larger one.

I don't miss the $350 I spent for the used tank and pump on Craigslist (actually bought 2 of them-one for my brother-in-law for same price) but sure am thankful for it every time I have to fill up the 26 gallon tank on my LS.

My feelings exactly, well put GaryFowler!
I just bought this and a 12v pump. No more cans for me!

I am using 5 gallon cans and a battery operated kerosene fuel pump from WalMart... the kind that takes 2 "d" batteries - word of caution, only use for Kero or Diesel - NOT gasoline. Works great for now but when I am mowing fields it is a PITA to have to run and get more fuel.

A transfer tank w/ pump and filter is going to be my next investment.

This is an option for adding fuel. It uses an "approved" filler.

Looks like you have to hold that darn button down.

I just put a "normal" 5 gal jerry can on the hood, grab a CLEAR siphon tube and siphon. Haven't tasted diesel or gas (other than fumes) in probably 40 plus years. Then hang the tube up so it drains.
My JustRites have a nozzle and handle to squeeze, but siphoning is usually easier.

I bought a gas caddy on ebay fro $170.00. It holds 30 gallon and makes fill-ups easy.

That's one way but for the same tractor I find my way a bit easier. Just get one of those long EZ pour spouts from TSC then sit the can on the hood and the end of the FEL fork and tip the can over. The spout is long enough so you don't spill a single drop and it has a screen in it to help keep junk in the fuel from getting into the tank. It also flows pretty fast as the spout comes with a vent you can put in the can.

I have cans and spouts which work very well (they were new-old-stock when I got them). My problem is that I would either go slowly and have it take forever, or I would go faster and couldn't tell the tractor was full before it's too late and I'd overflow a bit.

Now I just don't try to fill it all the way and life is good.
