Easiest (/cheapest?) way to add 3PH tilt & grapple bucket functionality?

Hi all,

I'm about to buy my first non-lawn&garden tractor, a JD 3025E. I've got the tractor nailed down, now I'm in the process of configuring the build.

I want the ability for a tilt setup on my 3PH (not a full "top & tilt" because I don't really anticipate needing the "top"-ing function, but I do want to be able to hydraulically tilt 3PH implements), and I also would like to give myself the ability to have a 3rd-function (is that the proper term?) implement on the FEL, like a grapple bucket.

Problem is, I have limited funds to accomplish this (the tractor selection itself is a reflection of this... if I had more money to play with I'd get a more powerful machine, but the 25 horsies under the hood of the 3025E will have to suffice for me).

The dealer quoted me $1,100 for a set of rear remotes/SCV, installed.

Is there a less expensive method?

(I am hoping that I can get away with adding only one set of remotes, in the front or rear, and running a long set of hoses from that set up to the front for the grapple, since I certainly won't need to be using something on the front AND the back simultaneously.)

Any and all thoughts and advice appreciated.

P.S.- I've read some about some folks installing diverters to use a 3rd function up front, momentarily disabling one of the other bucket functions... do I understand that correctly? That seems like it could be a great option, if it is inexpensive, and if I'm not misunderstanding something...

If you are purchasing this new...

I would think long and hard about your long term use. I understand your desire to save money. And I agree, however, you will use this tractor for 10-20yrs (in all likelihood) and you will kick yourself each and every time, you are unable to use your hydraulics in a useful manner.

This is my opinion, but, I would get EXACTLY what you envision needing 5 years from now, rather than what you think you can get away with currently. That extra $10/mo payment will be money well spent, when you are using your grapple, tilting/angling your blades, etc etc etc.

Money is ALWAYS an issue, there is no doubt. But to make a big purchase through a dealer, then cut corners on what will make the machine enjoyable, is not where I would recommend going. Rather I would recommend buying a good used machine which has everything you could possibly need on it.

My opinion...

I purchased a used machine, off lease, from a dealer. I had another set of hydraulics added for a grapple. It has 2 sets on the back. I REALLY wish I had told them to add at least another set on the back. I can make due for my needs, but it is always a choice of what is more necessary. And, in a few weeks, Brian at FitRite hydraulics, will be making it even more difficult, by sending me a top/side link system. There goes my 2 connections....

Wrong, you don't anticipate needing the "top"-ing function because you have never had it.

I speak from experience, once I got a hydraulic toplink, I said I would never own a tractor without one.

I don't recall anybody posting that they don't like, or don't use their hydraulic toplink, it is just the opposite, everybody now thinks it is a necessity.
