I was hoping someone could give me some advice on my problem. I have a early Massey Ferguson that I'm trying to replace a broken hydraulic pump. The original didn't have a filter but all the replacements I've found do. The problem is the new pump is impossible to get in the case due to the ridge that is cast into the tractor case. The new style pump is the same overall length at the shaft but where the new one added the filter so the manifold the filter attaches to makes the body of the pump about 11/16" longer. It hits that cast-in ridge and don't allow enough movement to get it engaged in the shaft collar and PTO gear. Does that ridge need to be removed or is there a source for an early pump? The old pump goes in with no problem.
