EARLY M59 REPORT

I want to hear from all of the new M59 owners on this forum. Happy and not so happy. How is the machine doing? Any issues yet? Are you happy with the tractor? Does THE FEL have the lift and break out force you thought it would have? How is the HST Plus working out? How is the engine torque and power with the turbo? How is the mid range gear range working out compared to the L48, if you had one? Anything Kubota should have done different? Are there any first out early production model issues that Kubota has addressed so far? How does it compare to the L48, if you had one before purchasing the M59? Has anyone set theirs up as a grading tractor instead of a backhoe and if so, how does the rear three point handle your box blade? Does the tractor pull good with a box blade? Is the wheelbase long enough for a grading tractor? Would you buy one again, considering it's performance so far? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm considering one. For info, I had an early 05 L39 I bought new and thought it was a super great tractor, but I wished Kubota had offered it in HST Plus also.

I'm in the same boat as muleskinner. Right now I'm going back and forth between the L39 and M59. I know these two tractors are quite a bit of difference but like Muleskinner said in a previous thread you can get a full size deere 210 for the same price a m59.

Not quite. You pay around $56,000.00 for a 210LE and around $43,000.00 for a M59 with a rear box blade and no backhoe. The 210LE is a real construction grade tractor that would dig a hole and bury the M59. Joking of course.

Summing up from earlier post my 2 cents..

I had a 39 and traded it. If you can swing it buy the 59 backhoe. It's a bigger and more capable machine. When you consider amortizing the $$ difference over ten plus years it makes the decision easier. In my case, a supportive wife didn't hurt either as she worries more about me falling off the tractor than my horses?

The 59 gets the work done faster and easier. IMO it's also a lot more stable. I use the compact backhoe in very rugged, remote and unforgiving back country. Don't get me wrong the 39 is an excellent tractor but for my uses the 39 struggled a little when pushed, but the 59 doesn't.

The auto power management features makes operating the tractor easier allowing more concentration on the work. They give you a lot of flexabilty. Really, the only time I run the tractor without Auto HST, Auto Throttle and Stall Guard engaged is when I'm moving the tractor and use the manual throttle. I set the HST response dial on the fastest setting. I guess if you were doing a lot of close in work you'd play with setting (increasing the HST pedal delay?). The LMH main gear operating range is okay but shifting is a little stiff but geting better with use(feather the HST pedal forward/reverse). There again I've never needed Low, work in M and travel in H.

I had to learn the HST pedal but once I got it, pretty slick.

The 59 needs a grab bar from the back of the roll cage over the side console throught the fender to the frame. In rough canyon country, I'm continually holding onto the top of the console hood. And, as posted earlier, charging for work lights, pre cleaners, 3 point etc. and the nit picky options is laughable on a machine of this calibre and expense.

I never owned the 48 but understand it was a very capable machine. The 59 is a more powerful iteration of the 39. Shame it wasn't available when I bought the 39 but I liked the 39's set up and felt the 48 didn't justify the higher price.

I am very satisfied with my M59. I have had no problem with my hb 84 box blade on it and I live up on a mountain that has approx 900 to 1000 ft of gravel drive. It pulls it up almost as easy as it pulls it down completly loaded. My only trouble is I should have got a muchheavier box blade. When youhave your loader full it become a little unstable due to the lack of more weight on the box blade. I have since loaded the tires, but have not had the boxblade back on yet, however Ican already tell a major difference. Ihave 70 hrs now on it. Unlike my L3830 with the bradco hoe(which I liked) the creep feature cuts out a lot of inconvenience of repositioning yourself. It also handels. grapple great which is 1265 pounds. So far my only trouble has been the backhoe pins were at first hard to get out but has since beencorrected. Now the back hoe likes an inch or so coming all the way back to place the latch down to lock the backhoe in place. I'm sure Kubota will adress that as well. The break out force is unbelievable and is the reason I got such a heavy duty grapple.

Could be improved minorly, but it really is a beast. Fills the big bucket with gravel no problem.

Price you listed seems high to me MS, unless you are talking all the bells and whistles you could put on.

Kytractor, how long is it taking you to get the hoe on and off? I am worried about that, one of the reasons mine is still on, trying to get all the hoe jobs done first.

It really doesn't take that long. It's as easy or easier than my former bx 24 or L3830. It was just that first time when the right pin was stuck that took so long, but that was fixed by the dealer. I have had it on and off several times and getting ready to take the box blade off to put it back on in the next few days. My dealer said the price that I got the 59 for went up between 4500 and 6,000.
