I bought an acerage and the previous owner has a 2001 DX33 with a L130 loader. It has 692 Hours. Also comes with a Woods RD7200 finish mower and 6' command blade. Everything i see says these are good little tractors. I havent read anything bad, but then there isnt a lot of info out there. Hes going to sell it to me for $12k. From what I can tell that is a **** of a price, especially with everything coming with it. The tractor looks new, hes an older gentleman with a beautiful home and property and takes care of stuff.

Is their any real issues with these tractors? Or concerns, or reasons i should look at say a John Deere 1025 sub compact in that range. I see those in the same price range. They are good tractors, my father has one, but obviously alot smaller.

Let me know what you think please.

Thank you,

While I have never owned one, they are the stable mate of the New Holland TC33. I had one of those and it was a good tractor. They were both made by Shibaura in Japan of course and final assembly here. My NH was a good tractor, and the person that owns it now has put hundreds of hours on it since I owned it and it is still going strong. There are some differences in the two, but not all that much. You did not mention which transmission it had. The Hydro would go for about $1000 more than the gear.

Unless you anticipate needing a much higher hp tractor in the future, BUY IT. I have always considered the DX33/TC33D the Cadillacs of this class of compacts, with electric cruise control, tilt and height wheel control and extendable hitch pins. The starter solenoid issue is easily addressed and explained in the New Holland section of TBN. The only other issue I can think of is the hydraulic oil cooler ahead of the radiator. It originally came with rubber hose elbows which would occasionally fail. There is an upgrade kit which removes the elbows which your machine may already have. Otherwise, I think you will enjoy the DX33.

I enjoyed my 1999 TC33D for 19 years and just traded it for my Toolcat. It was a good ol girl (still is).

What about a Cub Cadet EX3200. Has a Loader/belly mower and 3pt snow blower. Looks to have alot more weight, as well as lifting capabilitys with the loader. Only has 400 hours and is a yanmar diesel. Its also $1000 cheaper.

Would that be a better buy than a DX33?

This might be a little late to help you make a decision but I have had a DX33, that I bought new, since 2004. It has approximately 1300 hours on it. I also have a D35 with 1000 hours on it. I'm a long time IH guy so there was no doubt I'd have a compact tractor that my IH dealer sold. I've had a landscaping company since 2001 where these tractors were used as well as on the farm.
My DX33 is a hydro. I only use hy-tran in the rear end. Service has always been done regularly. Parts are available. The only issue I have had is the steering wheel tilt cylinder has gone out. Not a big deal to me but a time consuming job to replace. Performance wise I am amazed at how much work this little tractor can do. It is built very well. I have a huge assortment of attachments to use with it and it always gets the job done.

I have a DX33 and a Kubota BX23. The DX33 is my go to machine for almost anything around my 133 acre farm. It has a skid steer interface for the front end which makes changing from bucket to forks vey easy. It is very fuel efficient and will go through a lot of mud. Using a counter weight will allow you to pick up 800-900 pounds before you run out of hydraulic pressure.

My only problems have been clogging the radiator with chaff when bush hogging tall weeds and getting water in the fuel from water pooling around the filler when left outside in heavy rain.
