On the way home tonight, came around the corner at my place, and there was a truck there and a couple of kittens running around on the road. The gal in the truck, said that they where in the road and was concerned about them.

Now I know all all the folks around, and can't think of any with cats. These kittens are around 10 weeks old, and very social. Hopped up on my shoulders and started purring just right now.

I spotted her truck checking that I took them in about 15 min. later, and she speed away. Kittens where real hungry, but had no problems with my dogs, and are starting to deal with my 2 cats. Both females, so I will have to spring for the fixing.

We have not had to deal with "dumped" animals in almost 20 years out here, and Yes I think that I got suckered in. The kittens, would have been coyote bait within an hour if I had not taken them in.

I hope this is not going to be a trend again.

Just a rant, thanks for reading.

Bless you for your caring and concern...we live in a semi rural area and two years ago, in the middle of winter, an 8 month old tabby showed up at our door and began yowling. We took him in and tried to locate the owners but with no success. He has stuck around and become a valued addition to the herd of four cats we now have. I have housed several barn cats over the years but have no idea if they were dumped or not. It sickens and saddens me when people dump unwanted animals in the country...wonder how the people who do that would feel to be abandoned themselves.

Selfish people make me so mad! We domesticated animals, the least we can do is hold up our end of the bargain!;)

Good job ... man I really like a cat. I find it awesome that such a little animal can show so much affection.

That is how we have acquired our last three dogs. They just show up one day and no owners to be found. I just can't bring myself to send them to the pound. We have also place 4 more that showed up so it is pretty common here.

We have this problem around here also. Found a kitten last summer sitting in the middle of our drive meowing. Ended up keeping him even tho we already had 2 cats and 3 dogs - all indoors. He fits right in and is a real character. Just wish people didn't just toss their pets like trash.

Well, lets see, 40 or so cats (mostly outside in the barn but 6 in the house), 5 dogs, all pure bred except one, 4 labs and a bassett/coon hound mix and a skunk that lives with the outside cats....

All discards, strays, dropped off or found their way here (I believe there is a sign out front that we can't read but they can that says)...'abandoned pets always welcome....good food and warm lodging'.

All get regular shots and Vet care and all get love and protection...and all females get fixed.

Thats what life is really all about, taking care of those who can't take care of themselves, not taking care of those who can take care of themselves but have no desire to do so.........

Good on you Pete Judd,We all end up in the same place, but some will sit in the front row. You have taken one more step to getting that front row seat:)

I wonder why people don't take their unwanted animals to a local animal shelter/humane society/pound, etc. At least the animals have a chance of being adopted.

Some folks are either too lazy or indifferent to make the effort. Some may think (hope?) that the animals will be taken in by the folks who find them, as is sometimes the case. However, I would guess that most dumped animals aren't so lucky.
