I have a dump trailer, and was hoping to see if anyone has either built or found a cover for somewhere online? Basically I like to fill it pretty high and was hoping for a solution to keep the crap from blowing out. Here's the trailer:
Big Tex 12LP

Thanks

Maybe you could gwet something like a Truck Tarps and modify it for your trailer?

I've seen a fellow around my area who has a simialr trailer, and he has what appears to be a pretty expensive looking canvas tarp on his that was obviously custom made to fit it. I've no idea how much something like that would cost.

I've got a 6X12 also. I couldn't find a heavy duty tarp that size, so I used a commercial quality 10X12. I folded it at 6' wide, ran some heavy duty staples to make a seam, cut off the excess and then used a grommet kit to put them where I needed them. I also put some grommets on the other side, so I could run a bungee down to the bottom of each stake hole pocket. The grommet kit comes in pretty handy. I ordered some clear vinyl online and got it free. I never would have thought to buy one. When I don't use the tarp I just lay the bungees inside it as I roll it to the front and a couple bungees there keep it in place. I screwed the front to the lumber I used to build up the trailer. My trailer manufacturer offers a kit with a roller to cover the trailer but I think it was in the $200-300 range. The tarp is one of the silver ones with reinforced corners. I got it a TSC. Lowes has them also.

I've got a 6x12 also, and spent quite a bit of time hunting for a cover with a roll-up mechanism. All the stuff I found was for dumo trucks, which are wider. I looked at the designs and decided I could make my own hand-wound roll up using a boat winch cut apart with a longer spindle, and a u-shaped rod mounted on the middle of the sides of the trailer. But, I don;t have time to make it right now, so I'm using a mesh tarp (allows air to pass through it, like shade cloth) with grommets. I use 4 small tie-down straps (the ones with a slide/clamp. not a ratchet) attached to the 4 corners to tie it down. When I get to where I want to empty the trailer, it only takes a few seconds to loosen the straps, fold the tarp and put it in the bed of my pickup. Works so well, I may never get around to building the roll-up model; too many projects already...Northern Tool has an 8' x 16' PVC mesh tarp for $26.99.

Mine is a Cam Superline. I bought when I bought my tractor from my NH dealer. It's got a lot of little quality features that you don't always see in a trailer. The ball mount is bolton and adjustable, so I can match the height to my equipment trailer or you could switch to a pintle, the safety chains are heavy duty with large hooks with spring clips, the wire harness is a molded whip and extra long and goes to a distribution block, they welded a small piece of pipe to the inside of the a-frame to put the plug in when not in use, and so on. My family was in the trailer business for years so I notice these things.

I just bought a 6'8" X 14' low profile dump, tag along trailer, last friday. In looking around on the internet, I came acoross this site, "www.harpstarps.com/index.htm".

Looks like the tarps are fairly reasonable. I think you would have to order the roller assembly and arms to fit your trailer, and it looks like the whole deal would be around $450.00.

Haven't added it all up yet, or, called them to see, but I'm also looking for something reasonable to use on this new, (used), trailer.

This one has 2' high steel sides with stake pockets on it, and I'm hoping I can use it to haul my JD 4310 TLB, and sell my 16' flatbed trailer. Been snowing here on and off since I got it home, so I haven't had a change to try it out with the tractor on it yet. But for 2K, I figure I can use it for what I need, then sell it for at least as much as I paid, = free rent.
Around here, if you don't cover your load, going to the dump, they will charge you double, and, you may get a ticket to boot.

Always amazed how many of the threads on this forum, relate to what I'm already trying to do.

My brand is a "U-Dump" from Ocala, Florida. What sold me on it was the price. It has some rust and has no outstanding features except that it used decent quality marine taillights. It's a high profile (body above the wheels), which may allow it to dump at a higher angle, but it's pretty much useless for hauling the tractor -- it's pretty high off the ground. It has a single "barn door" at the back, which I didn't think I'd like, but it has proved to be no problem -- you swing it open and up alongside the trailer, where a clip holds it in place while you dump. The trailer works. I paid $1800 for it on EBay, and it was located only about 100 miles away.

On the lack of a cover, our landfill takes a protective attitude -- show up without a cover and they simply warn you, "The state D.O.T. cops love to sit right outside the gate and will nail you. You were lucky, today."

Here is another site for a tarp system that looks interesting. They don't list prices, but they have a local shop here in Denver. I'll call them tomorrow and see if I can get pricing on their manual pull over system.

Right around Christmas, I bought a slightly used Anderson 12K pound dump trailer on Ebay. I got a real good deal, but had to drive to SC to pick it up. Given the difference between the price of a new one, it was well worth the trip.

I am very happy with the trailer so far. I bought a small encapsulated battery charger that I attached to the battery frame. Now, I just plug in the extension cord and it recharges over night. I will also have my welder add a few welds between the floor panels and the frame. Many manufacturers just run a few 2" beads to hold the floor. But that makes for a noisy floor.
