The place where I park kioti is not level. But it's oh so shady, `Realized the mistake after draining the oil. So I went ahead with the new oil and filter. I measured out 6 quarts and a bit of change for the .1 part. I have oil in the view port at about half way up. But the oil light stayed on after startup. Gave it a minute or two and shut down. Checked oil at dipstick, dry. I was too late to call anyone but thinking about it, I decided because it's down some in the rear and canted to the left a little the oil isn't getting to the pan. I added another pint of oil figuring the new filter would use that but no oil on dipstick and plenty in the view port. I'm pretty sure I didn't quite get six quarts out but never saw an oil lite after startup in the 3 hrs or so I've run it. I have the old oil in gallon jugs. A friend has an oil heater he made.
I think if I fire it up and turn it around 180 degrees the light will go out. But wanted to check my thinking on the 180. The thing is canted to the dipstick side now and it's dry. Seems like there should be some circulation, if the motor is running. Isn't there an oil pump? Guess it must be in the oil pan. What would you guys do? I'm very sure I put in 6 quarts plus .1 and a pint. Even went back and checked that it wasn't six gallons. My wife was helping and she confirms six quarts. Will I hurt something if I start up and turn around so the pan is down hill from the fill area? Or should I get in a hot tub and cut my femoral arteries?
That's right, I don't have a hot tub. Toss me some advice if you can. And thanks.
