I split wood using a splitter hooked up to the hydraulics on a John Deere 4020. In the past I've controlled the splitter's cylinder from behind the tractor using a long pole attached to the hydraulic lever on the tractor's console (necessity is the mother of invention and all that). This year I'm adding an old hydraulic-controlled ear corn elevator into the mix, to convey the split wood away into a shed. Both the cylinder on the splitter and the motor on the elevator connect with two hoses (each) to the tractor's hydraulic ports. What I'd like to do is incorporate a dual-lever valve (one to control the splitter and one to control the conveyor) mounted on the splitter. Would something like this work:?Prince Hydraulic Control Valve — 8 GPM, 2-Spool, Model# MB21BB5C1 | Control Valves| Northern Tool + Equipment
I'm assuming it would be plumbed inline to one of the hoses on both the splitter and the elevator? The elevator is a one-direction on/off type of thing, but somehow I'd need the splitter to be able to go both directions, which I just realized is probably going to complicate things... Thanks for any advice or recommendations on what would work.
