Dual batteries to one

The FX26D I'm borrowing has dual batteries, which are dying. I thought it would be nice to replace the batteries in return for borrowing it.

In passing conversations the owner has mentioned he wants to find an equivalent single battery.

Does anyone know how to go about this??

Are you sure the batteries are bad, or is it a charging problem. I would first test the charging system, and/or try putting the batteries on a charger.
