Been thinking of buying a few of the plastic wall mounted pet food dispensers , just wondering if anyone has come up with a better maybe DIY built ones? Looking to hold about 40-50 lbs of bird, cat, and dog food.

Something like this is what I've been looking at.

I've had one for about 10 years or so for dog food, works well, much better than storing it in totes and such.

Be careful of where you place it. When I first got mine, I just lagged it onto a light pole next to the garage and thought I was good to go. The local raccoons must have found out about it the first night. They'd climb up the backside of the pole, then start feasting. I even put a concrete block on the top, but they'd just push the block off and continue to eat.

I finally lagged it onto the side of the garage (covered in vinyl siding) and they haven't been able to get into it since then.

I use one from these folks. I enclosed the entire gizmo in a heavy wooden box that is coon proof. The food drops out into a bottom tray. I feed two cats this way. The feeder holds about 2 weeks worth of food.

Here is another page that I used for ideas when building my feeder box. I have used it for years this way now.

I have a plastic one I have had for 20 yrs or so. Don't use it any more, but it is still on the side of my shed, under cover from the weather. It worked great.

went back and looked at your original post, mine is a feeder, not a dispenser. Mine you fill with food, and the dog pushes in a door in the front and eats from the bottom, more food comes down as they eat.

They will be kept on a wall inside a feed room in the barn that we have for cats and dogs, so even the plastic ones sound last for some time. If I can find metal ones for a reasonable price I would go that route. If it wasn't for all the wild critters around here I would consider the auto feeders.
