I have used a reese drum mower 2400HL and a disk mower Vicon and a Krone, all are good but the reese will have the least failure rate, the disc mowers have a gear drive where the reese has a belt drive. the main belt for the reese is aprox 290 inches long and you will need a drawing to put it on. the disc mowers use gears and are mostly serviced by a dealer or some one who has the tools to remove the broken gears to be replaced. the hardest thing about the reese is replacing the bearings on the drums. it can be done but is not easy. on my reese 2400HL it could get bogged down in thick grass and my 70hp Kubota could have used at least 10 more hp. most of the time it was enough hp to mow any grass except thick stuff. I see most of the comments here are from people offering oppenions but mine are from experience.... only the Reese uses belts all the other drum mowers I have researched have a gear driven drums. and use either a greased packed gears or an oil bath gear drive. the belts are less cost and easest to replace.
