Drought

For general info. I know that lots of folks have followed news about our severe drought in the southwest -with Los Alamos and other large fires. Well the drought is over in the southwest for this season. Raining everyday now. 2.5" of rain at my house last 2 days. And our rainy season has just started -it lasts till late Sept. usually. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Did any of the forests in your area catch fire? I sure hope not.

It does take some time for the first rain to soak in. We just finished up with two very hot days. One day of 93 at work and a record setting day at the international airport where the official temps are recorded. Now it has turned to overcast with scattered showers for what looks like the long holiday. Totally unpredictable this year. We are 150 miles from the 200,000 acre burn at the Hanford Nuclear site in eastern Washington. I think it has made the national news because of the nuclear waste stored there. Mostly sage and brush and little dryed grasses. They claim nothing is glowing in the dark, yet.
Hope the people with crops in the ground get as many inches as needed.

Gordon, We had 3 large fires in northern Arizona forests this year: a 25,000 fire NW of Flagstaff, a 20,000 fire N of Grand Canyon, and a 10,000 fire about 50 mi S of me. No large fires where I am -unbeliveable as dry as it was. Now its over with for us for the year. Fire activity in the west will now be in the northern Rockies and Pacific states. The Southwest is in it's rainy season.
