Took delivery of my new JD 4066R today. Tested everything out before the salesperson/delivery man left....except (you knew there was going to be an except) I didn't run it in reverse (duh). Even though it is an option I didn't order, they installed the backup warning kit. The noise is driving me nuts. I found the parts on the JD schematic parts site but don't recognize where on the tractor it is located. Can anyone tell me if there is an easier way to shut the thing off than removing it/cutting the wires? If not, where on the tractor is this thing located? This is a hydrostatic transmission and I use it on my own property so I'm not worried about liability. Thanks.

Doesn't help you find yours but mine was under floor beside the seat. I echo located it on my L45 TLB and pulled the wires off the horn.

I have the back up alarm on my 110tlb and find it very irritating to listen to. I made sure it wasn't on the 4520 when I ordered it. You can unplug the wires as suggested above. It is easy to locate it, look underneath the cab in the seat area while it is on.

The one on my 6415 has an ON/OFF switch. JD accessory, not aftermarket.

I'm deaf enough that, while the sound is loud and irritating, I can't tell exactly where it is coming from. I looked under the tractor but didn't see anything that resembled the schematic. There doesn't seem to be an on/off switch on the 4066R. I'm not sure why it is on there because I didn't order it and it doesn't appear on my build sheet. I'll keep looking. Thanks.

I haven't tried this, but it's been suggested to put on ear plugs and look for it. When your ears aren't saturated, they're better at determining location.

I'd call your selling dealer and ask them.

I had a call into the service dept of the dealership where I bought the tractor and they actually called me back soon after my last post. The tech told me that facing the rear of the tractor it was on the left hand side and a little ways back in (I configured it with a 7 pin trailer outlet and it is supposed to be right behind that). He told me to simply reach around and unplug the connection. He told me that they had not installed the backup warning kit and that it came through from the factory that way. I'll report back after I get home this afternoon.

I unplugged this connection and my tractor doesn't beep when I back up. I think I will try and wire in a switch so I can shut it off at will instead of just unplugging the back up alarm.

Once I saw where it was located it was easy to reach in and unplug. I'm a little less crazy now.
