I'm having a serious problem with trucks/people turning around in my driveway. My driveway is about 1000ft long, half through field and half through woods. My issue is that I'm having to replace my third culvert pipe in 6 years due to the trash/commercial trucks using my entrance as a turn-around spot. Also my entrance typically stays fairly muddy since I can't seem to keep gravel there due to the amount of cars turning around. It's starting to get ridiculous and costly for the culverts. Anyone have ideas for a solution other than a gate setup?

Talk to your town and see if they will repair the end of your driveway so that it will hold up to the turn around traffic.

A neighbor was constantly having the same issues.

It was expensive, but, here is what he did...

He gated his property and installed a very heavy duty concrete apron along with a camera and photo surveillance sign...

His wife said it was money well spent. Prior to the gate, her husband would become irritated and upset almost daily about the damage.

I had the same problems only it was huge tractors that were tearing up my entrance, using it as a pull in to allow others to pass and to turn around. Their AG tyres were shredding the gravel surface.
My suggestion is.... two of the biggest boulders you can get your hands on. One on each side of the entrance... works for me... the tractor drivers have found a better spot for their pull in 200 yds down the road from me... hehehe

My ignorant self was going to suggest spiked boards!

dont know if this helps, but you should be able to get colvert for free is you got to the factory and ask for seconds. I am getting ready to do this to raise the bottom of my driveway. then you could lay asphalt millings at the bottom of your drivway about 300 a triaxle load and roll them in good...should be okay for a while.

park your vehicle at the end of your driveway for a while.

I forget how I got them, but I used to have a couple of the "movie scene" foam boulders. We put them at my buddies driveway as he had a similar problem. He found out after the first heavy winds that he had to anchor them down. Whenever he had a truck bring a delivery, he would lift the boulder over his head and throw it out of the way. The look on the drivers face was priceless.
