Mowing Drive problem with Kubota F2260

I am having a problem with my Kubota F2260 mower which has a 3 cylinder diesel and hydrostatic drive.

After about 10 minutes of mowing the mower begins to shake, shudder and the exhaust will start spewing black smoke. When I stop driving with the mower deck disengaged the condition still exists. The shaking, shuddering and black smoke continues until the engine quits. This occurs at any engine speed. When restarted and the engine throttle set at any speed the problem does not exist. When driven with or without the mower deck engaged the problem comes back and the engine stalls. This keeps continuing. The problem does not occur when the mower is sitting with the engine at idle or high speed. This problem only occurs when the mower is driven.

To try and remedy the problem I have changed transmission oil, filter. The pickup screen was removed and was found to be clean. The injectors were bled no air was found in the lines. Both fuel filters were replaced.

Don稚 know if this is a problem with the engine or hydrostatic drive.

I would check that you don't have debris in the fuel tank that gets sucked onto the fuel line. Also check the electric fuel pump. They can get weak or go bad and cause all kinds of intermittent problems.
I doubt it is your hydrostatic unit, they usually start making noise before they would fail like that.

I agree, sounds like a fuel delivery issue.

Here is another idea to look at. Since it appears when the mower is running it is possible there might be an issue with the seat safety switch or PTO switch having intermittent contact. That may cause the fuel to turn on and off. As the fuel comes back on the governor is adding fuel to keep the RPM stable, hence the black smoke.
