Hi Guys and Gals,
Greetings! New member having a ball trying to figure out why my tranny fluid is dripping between the clutch housing and transmission mating surface on my 1900 Ford. I have owned a Cat D-2 with blade and rear wench and an International 340 with Drott 4x1 loader and Drott ripper. Not totally incompetent to wrench just slow as heck now. My torches still work. Any help with pictures of inside clutch housing to see where a seal might stop leak would be appreciated.
Regards,
David

Hi Murph,
Thank you! I am having a hard time trying to search using search function:). I will try to find the Ford Forum on TBN. I have enjoyed reading some of the posts but none were subject specific.
Regards,
David

Hi Murph,
Once again lucky:). I just found a drop down list that came up after my 2nd post and see the Ford/NH forum.

David,

Both rear crankshaft seal and transmission input shaft open i to the bell housing. Are you sure the oil is from transmission. have you given it a smell test. did you check the dipstick both for crankcase and transmission? can you identify the difference. it must be a seal on on or maybe two shafts. The only cure is to split the tractor for further inspection. do you have a inspection hole on the side of bell housing? I have it on my 1700 and by removing the rubber cover can easily inspect the inside with the aid of flash light. Is you clutch slipping due to the oil?

JC,

Ps. Inside of the bell housing for ford 1700 and 1900 are about the same. search clutch replacement in NH owning and operating and you'll get a lot of hits.

Hi JC,
Thank you for the reply. Actually this post is old and since that time I have replaced the clutch. I had no leaks inside bellhousing and have posted pictures in previous posts. My leak actually is being caused by having a leak at the drop box where the front driveshaft meets. The spinning driveshft causes the oil to be slung up to the bellhousing and transmission joint. My problem is how to remove driveshaft and replace the seals and o rings found in the drop box.

David

Oh Okay, so it was external leak. Glad you got it fixed and got a new clutch.

JC,
