I'll have to get back to you on that. currently the car is in Nebraska, and the only pictures that I have of it are in Alaska.

Von,
Great car. The two seaters have nice lines. I bought mine in 1984 from
the original owner. He had just moved to the DC area from So Calif so the
car was almost rust free. If you are interested, there is a Healey mail list
that you can subscribe to at www.team.net. I get the digest. They are a great
group with a wealth of info and help available. There are mail lists for almost
any British car.
I see that you are in Victor. I have a friend, SueEllen Smith that is from Victor.

You are not talking about the same car. The one MJB is talking about is actually two different cars, The one that was rated lower horsepower than it had was called the L-88 and it was only rated at 425 and the one with the 427/435 was the L-89 but that was it's actual horsepower. The car you are talking about is the ZL-1 which they did only make 2 corvettes but the did make about 10 ZL-1 Cameros. Well I hope this helps with the confusion a little. I don't mean to sound like I am trying to correct you, it is just that I have a thing for vettes and I read a lot and have lots of knoledge on strange things(such as the different types of engines and what years those engines ran in production in Vettes/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That's a beauty Von.

I had a bud who had restored a red and white 100-4 and was just about to take it on the road when his divorce happened.

He ended up with the kids which was a good thing. But when it came down to crunching the nuts he knew what he had in the Healy. And she thought it was worth a lot more than he did. So he gave it to her in the settlement.

I'm not sure I would have. Even though it was one of those things where if you think it's worth so much then let's let you have it as part of your part.

tsh3 The worst move I ever made was getting rid of the Healy. It was a great singles man car. It was terrible hard to get parts out in this part of the world. I bought it in New London, Conn. when I was in the Navy. A sailor got transferred and had to leave it with a friend. He had been rebuilding it. It had a rebuilt motor, new top and seat covers. The wheel studs were broken on one wheel and was undriveable at the time. I bought the car for $500.00 in 1971. I sold it for $2500.00 in 1976. I shudder to think what it would be worth today!

When I was a kid a bud's dad was a heavy equipment mechanic. In a barn he had an old Packard sitting up on blocks. I remember two things about that car besides his obvious affection for it.

One, he loved to start it and then have us touch the body and wonder how come we couldn't feel the vibration of the motor. It was that smooth.

Two of course was that his oil was red. It was Marvel Mystery oil.

BTW our new Bravada has the same smoothness when the motor is running.

Yeah, I go for the American muscle cars the most, but I do appreciate a nice '50's Caddy when I see them.

Here's a link to a 1938 Packard Super-8 for sale.

I found the link by searching for Rogers Corvette. Here's a pic of his ZL-1.

I also own a 100/6 Austin Healey 2-seater (BN6 to those in the know). I bought it about 5 years ago while on a trip to southern CAL. A genuine black plate California car, with little rust. I also have a Lotus Elan, which by comparison, makes the Healey seem downright tractor-like to drive. But that Healey is o so pretty. My real dream car (ask me tomorrow and it will be something different) is an AC Bristol..the car that later became the 289 Shelby Cobra.

I got mine in 1972: a '72 Corvette convertible. I still have it after driving it to work every day for 30 years and putting 350K miles on it. Repainting it will be my first project after I get a new barn built. The next will be finishing a project I bought in 1981 and did not have time to finish because of work: a 1934 International C1 pickup truck. I also built a custom motorcyle in 1995. Now that I have a tractor I think my wife was right when she said I had everything: a Corvette, at pickup truck, a boat, a Harley, a tractor, and a blonde. I am not sure about the blonde but don't tell her I said it. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

You have a dozen Superbirds. They rate right up there with my 69Z as one of my all time favorites. No wonder you can't find one anymore. What your lowest mileage one?
