I need to pull some trailers around the house. I wanted to know what the best way to set up my tractor would be.

I think i have a hitch set up. This is what it looks like.

You just bought this tractor, right? Looks like it's missing the swinging drawbar. That would be a thick (1シ" x 2"?) bar about 2'+ long that goes front-back through the rectangle in your photo and pins up under the diff somewhere. It doesn't really swing but can move side to side a bit for hooking up different equipment.
I broke mine on a 2120 and bought a replacement at a local dealer. About $70 and 25# maybe, as I recall, kind of heavy for shipping.
It's not the same as a drawbar you might hook up to your 3-point lower arms. That one will not easily work with a ball as it rolls over, unless you have some kind of restraint as mentioned.
I couldn't find the swinging bar on Messick's site, though that's a good place to look for parts. 1520 3 CYL COMPACT TRACTOR 20 SERIES
