Dozer Alice Chambers timing set to what? Help!

This would be on an Alice Chambers HD6 Dozer.
4cyl. diesel motor. Does any one know ....
Govenor sets??
Degree to set motor??
TDC 18..didn't work, 24 didn't work.
Deperate for help setting the timing!
Appreciate any help with this! Posting for husband, sorry if I have missed the wordings. I'm NOT mecahnically inclined.
Need to get this straighten out, it's driving him crazy and I'm already there

Mtnlady, Can you tell me what the make of the engine in the HD6 is Allis Chalmers used Continental, GM/Detroit, and Buda Engines in them. Also the aproximate year of the machine will help. Im thinking in my friend Track loader the Timing starts at 14 Degrees TDC but I cant remeber the engine. I would also try www.ytmag.com. THey have a Crawler and Dozer forum there and several old iron mechanics that can better help you. PS what part of Mississippi are you located in If im nearby I may have some friends that can help you out.

1978 4cyl. Diesel motor, (hasn't told me engine brand...yet?)
Need timing on fly wheel and govenor.
Has 6 way hydraulic blade NOT cable.
