Hey guys. 1st time poster here.
I have a Foster brand 14k deck over trailer that had a HUGE rear ramp/gate. It was a full 8.5' wide and 6.5' Tall. The trailer towed just as hard empty, as it did with a 8,ooolb pickup on it.
I decided to make 2 smaller ramps that would flip over on the the beaver tail and make a completely flat deck when hauling empty or with smaller wheeled items. They will also be able to be pinned straight up for longer things.
I have made the ramps and got them mounted. Had local metal supplier shear some 1/8 sheet to make some triangles for the side then shear 1/8 diamond plate sheet for the "top"(when folded on to trailer). I used 3/16" angle as the "rungs". Bought some prefabbed hinge mounts and pivots and some 1.5" soild stock for my pins
I have springs to help take some of the weight when picking the ramps from off the ground, I am trying to figure out how/where to add springs to help when picking them off the beaver tail. I am guessing each ramp to weigh in at about 250lbs
Any ideas?
