Kubota L3830 GST with R4s and a Woods LC108 loader / John Deere 1025R with 7 Iron deck
We welcomed a new member to the family today ( the 1025R we've had the Simon for four months). I opted for a green machine this time around. Sold my Kubota ZD331 and replaced it with this 1025R with the 7 Iron deck. I wonder what's going to happen in the barn tonight? First time my Kubota L3830 has been parked in the barn with a green machine.
I looked at the BX Kubota and they're good machines but really wanted the 7 Iron deck especially coming from a commercial zero turn like the ZD331. Sales man was really down to earth and honest. The best thing was he didn't do any negative campaigning against the Kubota, just represented his machine for what it is. Looking forward to some seat time this weekend trying out this 7 Iron deck.
I know I'll probably get arrested by the safety police but does anyone have any tips on disabling the mower kill function when in reverse? Coming from a zero this a production kill for me.

Chris.

Nice looking rig. Excuse my ignorance, but what, exactly is a 7 Iron deck?

Its a beefier commercial deck instead of the regular mainstream decks, more heavy duty basically.

It's The same ( it may be a little different here or there ) that Deere puts on their commercial zero turn mowers. It'a stamped out of 7 gauge steel with a huge hydraulic press.

I have a 2012 1026R that has that RIO on it. I disabled mine by making a little bracket out of sheet metal to permanently make up the reverse pedal position sensing switch. I did not want to cut wiring and jumper stuff. Right under the front of the seat there is a plastic black cover that you can easily remove. you have to remove the three point speed knob with an allen wrench, and the deck height of cut knob( it just pulls off). With the tractor shut down you can then actuate your reverse pedal and see the linkage move off the switch. All it takes is a little "L" bracket and a couple holes and you can bolt it right on the switch bracket in the same holes as the switch using the same bolts. Very easy to do. I'm getting ready to trade mine in on a bigger machine and I will remove this so that the dealer doesn't have to.( I'm sure they will check that upon trade in). But I am still only assuming that the 1025R has the same setup. If it is not I apologize. It definitely makes it better when mowing without that ignorant feature lol.

Congrats on the new machine. The safety police will be after you for two violation. The RIO switch and letting someone operate the unit without a seat belt.
