At first I laughed, then a few days ago, I saw the person had submitted a 3k bill to the county for damages to his crops.

I have seen issues with cats, and it got rather heated in the methods of dealing with the cats, but this is way beyond cats.

Here is the original story that caught my attention.

Feral Hogs

If you lived in Texas, you could call Hog Stoppers! They live to hunt hogs.

These guys have my dream job. Overall, I am an animal lover. My wife and I enjoy nothing more than feeding the fish in our pond and the deer that seek refuge on our propery during hunting season. On the other hand, I love to hunt/track wild hogs. They are a nuisance where I am located. My 45-70 does a heck of job dropping them in their tracks. My wife was horse back riding on our place and came across some baby pigs. The sow proceeded to blast out the brush and chase her on horse back. She came back to the house, trembling, and told me what happened. I baited the area where she saw her with corn and sour milk. Two days later, just before dark, I dropped her about 20 yards from the corn. Have not seen one since. Maybe word got around! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had one hog running around. Checked with all the neighbors and no one claimed it. I had an old pony that it started to bother so I shot it. 30-06, no more hog problem.

Yep we had no hogs here till a few years ago a bunch of sportsmen went out west and brought back a few boars. then bred them to domestic sows. They didnt think about how hard it was to contain them or the prolific reproduction rates. TVA has heck with them tearing up the banks of the Tenn Tom waterway and alot of other parks there. THeyve killed a few dogs and several garden. We hunt them indiscriminately shooting any of them sows boars and piglets. I had a good friend of mine almost die because of one ran out infront of him on a dark road. got under his truck and cause him to loose control.

Things like that are usually handled on a "personal" level around here. I really don't expect (or want) the county to de-predate my land. Seems once "they" take care of one aspect of your business, they want to question other aspects of your business. No, I suspect those hogs around here would end up with a terminal case of lead poisoning.
Or end up w/ Hog Hunters like was posted earlier. Nothing tears up good grazing/haying land like a few hogs. They can ruin a field for a long time.
