Does this sound like a good deal for a 265 with Kawasaki FC540V engine?

John Deere 265 for sale, 1300 hours, Kawasaki FC540V engine. Has snow plow, mower deck. Deck has all new pulleys. Claims he has service records for oil changes, and always used synthetic oil. Has ag tires on it filled for weight and an off brand lawn cart (which I don't need so I would see if he would leave that out of the deal). Photos look like it's real nice and maintained. Paint is nice and glossy, says garage kept. Price is 1300.00

Mostly wondering how many hours these Kawasaki engines go till they need rebuilt etc. Also any opinions on the 265, I would love to hear.

I think that FC engine is a residential quality engine. Commercial or heavy duty Kawasaki engines start with FS for heavy duty and FX for commercial duty. I agree that 1300 hours for that engine is likely pushing it, even with proper maintenance. I think that those engines are considered 2000 hour engines at best.

I agree that it is a tad high. But still a good mower. I had a 240 with the FC420v engine. Dad bought new and mowed 3.5 acres with it for 15 years till he got the ZTR. Then I mowed my 3 acres with it for another 4 years before I got my ZTR. Then traded it to FIL 2 years ago and its still going strong. It was well maintained and looked good. I had it listed for $600 for a few months with no takers. Then traded to FIL for a scrap car worth ~$500.

The 265 isnt much different. I'd say 800-1000 in my area being top mark. ZTR's have kinda killed the resale of good quality garden tractors IMO.
