Kubota/ B7500/with 2000 lb winch
I am going to connect some lights up to my B7500 on the ROPS. My question is there a fuse pannel for the headlights or is their a in line fuse? I would like to splice into the lights. Is there enough amps to pull more lights?
Also I'm in the process of adding a warn winch to the front of my tractor. Is there any advise on how to wire it up?
I read somewhere where there was an extra set of wires under the seat to add lights or something but I have yet to find it. Is it under the little tool box somewhere?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Donny,
There should be a wire on the right side under your seat, red w/ blue stripe that is your work light circuit. There is a fuse box on the left side of your engine with 3 fuses. The 3 circuits are headlight/instrument cluster, work light and hazard flasher. The work light circuit is 15 amps which should be adequate for ROPS lighting. As far as a winch circuit, that would have to be seperate from the tractor circuitry. Hope this helps.

Greg is right on with his advice. One of the things about these smaller tractors is that they don't generate much electric power - I don't know if they've changed this yet (so my warning might be out of date) but they don't put an alternator in them. They use a dynamo, which has the benefit of being small, but only produces power at higher RPMs. Even with the speed up they don't crank out much juice.

You do have a circuit for adding lights under the seat, but don't put on a set of lights that draws more than 180 watts total (most smaller addon lights draw around 55 watts each, which is fine). I don't think you'll have much luck with the winch, though. They draw lots of power and will be sucking directly off the battery (definately bypass the tractor circuitry for that one). My guess is that it won't work well and / or won't work for long. But I'll be curious to see how things work out for you, so post an update...

I will look for the wires for the lights this weekend. I have'nt bought the lights yet but I will look for some with less than 180 total watts.
About the winch, I was thinking since it was made for a 4 wheeler (ATV) that it would'nt draw many amps at all. My tractor should have a bigger alternator than a 4 wheeler. I might have to contact the 4 wheeler dealer to find out how many amps the winch pulls. I might be able to run the lights and the winch on the same circut.I don't see why that would'nt work since the lights and the winch probally would'nt be used at the same time.

Another question for the pros, Could I splice into the headlights and increase the fuse for the headlights for my spare lights and maybe use the wire that's under the seat for my winch? Do you know exactly how much power the alternator puts out? I will do some research and figure something out. Any input would be appreciated and in the meantime I will try to figure it out.
Thanks, Donny /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Can't speak directly about tractor wiring, however in automotive application, the wire size is in direct relationship to the size of the fuse. To put a higher amperage fuse into the circuit is to be flirting with a fire hazard. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Take a tap off of the positive side of the battery and match the wire size to the fuse amperage and be safe rather than sorry. A fire is a terrible thing to happen to a tractor and the ashes left in the seat might be your own!!!!

Junkman is correct. Don't change the fuse size or you are setting yourself up for a fire. I have an electric winch for my boat trailer. It is wired directly from the car battery with #6 wire with a 50 amp circuit breaker at the battery post. Most winches take considerably more than a 15amp circuit. If you are going to install a winch, you should look into a seperate properly sized fused circuit to be safe. I had a boat once that the previous owner did some "custom" wiring and it had wires that were completely fried, touching a galvanized fuel tank. He was lucky the boat didn't blow up on him, or at least catch fire. 12volts can create a tremendous amount of heat.

I got in touch with the warn winch customer service and I was told that at (No load) the winch would pull 15 amps and pulling 500#'s it would pull 43 amps and pulling 1000#'s it pulls 70 amps and 1500#'s =102 amps and 2000's it's= 155 amps. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif He said I would have to go to a hardware store and get 4 in-line fuses and it would work. I'm not sure how to wire that up. Not yet anyway...........
I need to visit the local ATV store and see how their winch is wired up. I have the directions that came with my winch but it does'nt say anything about adding 4 in-line fuses to help with the amps.
The model winch I have is a (A2000) model. If they can go on a ATV it should be able to go on my tractor.

Donny,
Here is a (very poor) photo of the winch connection on my car. It is 2-50amp circuit breakers wired directly to the side post on my car battery with #6 wire. Hope this helps.

I'd be interested in seeing the connection proposed by the person you spoke with.........................chim
