Tractor
New Holland Boomer 55 CAB HST
I mow 1-2 acres with my Boomer 35 pulling a Woods 6' finished mower. My tractor weighs about 5500 lbs.
I have turf tires and it's a hst. Want to buy a cab tractor now and I'm considering hard the LS XR3135HC.
I also like the LS XR4140HC (both tractors with HST and Turf Tires) for it's increased lift capacity and weight for
plowing snow. Do you think the 4140 is overkill and will ruin my lawn???
XR3135HC weighs about 6500 lbs all done up (best price $27,000)
XR4140HC weighs just over 7000 lbs. (best price $29,500)

Thanks for any feedback.:)

I mow 2 acres +- with an L3901 (FEL removed) and a 72" land pride. That's a 37hp Kubota. With El Nino this year that is all the tractor I want to put on the lawn. I even lift the mower a bit so it will not track up the yard. I run R4's. The L3901 and your Boomer are real close in weight. 3,000 lb with me and a full tank of diesel. In the spring and summer when I mow more I am sure I am going to compact the yard and will have to aerate it to keep the roots healthy. If you need a 7000 lb tractor to do other heavy stuff with I presume would a zero turn to mow make sense?

Do you have any issues mowing with your current tractor ?
If not I doubt you will have any problem with the bigger machine. If it has has larger diameter or wider tires the ground pressure may not be any higher than what you are using now.
I mow with a Kioti DK 35 with loaded rear R-4's (loader removed) and an 84" rear mower with no problems

I agree with the others, I mow with a Woods 6 foot finishing mower behind a Kubota Grand L 3540 with my loader off. From my experiences I found that when I left loader on and turned too sharp the R-4's would scuff up the lawn on the turns. Also with loader off you won't have to worry about contacting trees if you have any, ha don't ask me how I know this, lol.

We have about 9 acres, around the house at the ranch, that we consider "yard" and the area has lots of trees. It would take 3-4 full days to mow it all with our JD Z820A zero turn with 60" deck. We bought an LS 84" rear finish mower last year, which I use to mow LOL the open areas, and finish up with the zero turn under and around trees.

I pull the RFM behind my LS XR4046HC with loaded R4's and, as long as it's reasonably dry, the tires leave no marks in the turf. Mow time cut to about 10 hours.

Presently, with all the rain we have had, the sandy soil is too squishy to even use the ZT without leaving tracks or getting stuck. FWIW, turf tires turn into drag slick in mud.

I used to mow about 5 acres with a L3240 pulling a 72" finish mower. It worked pretty good, but I needed the tractor for other jobs. I bought another machine(s) to handle the mowing. As long as you only turn about 80% of the turning radius the tractor worked pretty good. If you try to turn at 100% if the turning radius it cuts grooves in the grass. The problem is even worse in 4wd.

WOW! I mow 4 acres with a 62" deck in no more than 4 hrs easily. In the spring when you can almost hear the grass growing, I couldn't keep up at that pace.

That is pretty slow. I can mow 9 acres inside of 10 hours. I could do better if there aren't many obstacles.

Guess you would have to see how many oak trees I have to mow around and under. It's one thing to mow back and forth, in a straight line, and mowing around trees.

Yep. 3 acre yard. My 2600 pulls a Howse 72" mower. (2WD and Ag tires)

No, it doesn't ruin my lawn. But, we have sandy soil and I live on a hill.
Soil type and moisture will probably be a bigger factor than tractor weight.
