Tractor
Deere 4100, Deere 445, Deere 757 Z-Trak
My tractor is a Deere 4100 and I recently ordered the genuine John Deere work light kit for this tractor. The problem is the light came with two "bullet" style connectors, one on each wire - not a plug to plug into the tractor's wiring harness that is made to power two rear work lights. My local dealer researched and verified this is indeed the right light but has no explanation for why it didn't come with the right connector. At this point I'm just willing to buy the proper connector to put on the wires that come out of the light and be done with it. Can somebody please tell me where I can buy the correct plug? I know I could make it work by tying the wires together or "making due", but I'm not going to cut into the wires on the tractor's wiring harness to make the light work. Any help would be most appreciated!

hey man. i ran into this same problem several times working on various vehicles. I just cut and new connectors. You can solder and shrink wrap if your real particular. Just get a different style connector or connectors m/f. local parts store will have them

Maybe napa auto parts.
Or,
Cut the ends off the new light and crimp on individual spade connectors.
Plug in to your connector on tractor and tape it up.
Your plug looks like it has the female spades and you would crimp on the male spades.
Test fit each connector before crimping.
I did this on mine that had five wires.

I would check out Cole Hersee on Google. Open their catalog in section wiring accessories on page 131, looks pretty close. Part # 30204. I know truck dealers like Kenworth and Peterbilt carry the Cole Hersee line. Good chances Napa does too. Might have to compromise with locking tab. If you are near Detroit Michigan, there is a company called Terminal Supply, that has mostly every terminal that exists. Go see TerminalSupplyco.com and go threw their catalog. Thy could surely mail it to you, if they have it. (Page 43 in their catalog)
Good luck!

That's a Packard 56 Series connector. A Google search will turn up countless places to purchase one. But honestly, it's a crappy non-sealed connector. I'd rather cut that off the tractor harness and install a decent sealed connector like a Weatherpack, Metripack, or a Molex connector.

Thank you so much for the abundance of replies! What gauge terminal do you think is on those wires? Mechanos, I've found it at Waytek and even though there are better options I'm going to stick with stock for the simple reason that I keep things 100% stock. Looks like I'll need to purchase terminals:

and then the connectors:

Then crimp the terminal onto the wire and slide it into the connector. Am I missing anything?

Great! Would it be the 14-16 gauge terminals?

It's not that hard. Just put female spade connectors on the wires coming off of your work light and they should fit right into the installed connector on your tractor. You don't need a special plug. I just did this on my 770.
