Dear friends:

would you comment about prices, below. Do these look reasonable.

Kubota L4300- +/- $12, 450 (2wd); $14,350 (4wd)
5' rotary cutter- WOODS 60" w/ clutch $975 (basic)
5' rotary cutter- Agri $575 (basic)

Do I need to buy the front end "suitcase" weights? (3 for $185; 5 for $300- ouch) w/ either the 2 WD or 4 WD if pulling a rotary cutter?

have to forego other implements (FEL- $2,900); etc. for now to keep purchase as close to $15K as possible-- (Tax will be another 5% or so).

thanks,

Have you shopped around other dealers or is this the first? I would look at other brands also just for bargaining power. Foregoing that loader is a big sacrifice. A little shopping might get you the implements you want. How bout a bush hog loader or another brand? Step in here guys. Somebody here knows some other dealers around him.

I am not up to speed on this model, but the prices are around 20% off of the list price quoted by Tractorsmart.com. I think that a 20% discount is generally very good. I ordered suitcase weights for my L4330, which hasn't been delivered yet, so I don't know how much they will help. I currently use them on a JD 950 2WD tractor and I am pretty sure they help counter balance the bush hog on some of the hills I mow.

I would favor getting the loader, which is my main reason for getting a new tractor. I suspect that you will find that if you have a loader, you will have a lot of uses for it and wonder how you ever managed without it. I would also say that if you have a loader and if you keep it attached, you will not need the suitcase weights.

Good luck with your purchase.
