I have had two occasions that wires were cut on my Caravan, first time was the wire to the crank sensor and just had to splice one wire to a speed sensor on the transmission. Both were clean cuts unlike a rat or mouse. The only critters we have allot of that the cats don't kill are rabbits. Will a rabit cut a wire?

Squirrels will also chew wires. Had to take a Dodge car in for new wiring because the squirrels chewed them up.

had a squirrel eat a hole in the air cleaner tube on a car and then make a nest in the air filter box.. chewed up the air filter partially for fluff.. luckilly none made it to the air intake of the engine.. loaded up the tube with pine straw and nuts.. GRRRRRR

That sounds like it is within reach of a rabbit, so it makes sence that a rabbit nipped it off. Squirrels like to eat under the hood up higher. On the repaired wire make it a soldered splice using rosin core solder. If you use acid core that is plumbing. Shrink tube the repair or wrap it in a quality tape. Also put the shrink wrap on before you make the solder joint.

My buddy had an early 90's T-Bird sitting in the driveway and snow piled up around it. He saw rabbit tracks and didn't think much about it. When he got the car out in the spring the ABS light was on. Rabbits chewed off every bit of ABS wiring they could reach from each brake on the rear axle to where the wires entered the floorboard......

since there is no nutritional value on wire or insulation.. makes you wonder why they find it necescarry to chew them..????

Rabbits like to chew to keep their teeth from growing out. They do taste like chicken when prepared right.. Although maybe some of them will taste like copper and insulation?:licking:
