Hi all... new here, and been engrosed.... wondering if combined we can produce something spectacular... am seriously considering upgrading to my final property... the perfect one has been found, -a few hundred ac backing on to large national park, has permanant, water fall for gravity water, and limited timber, but enough if carefull for my needs and a little extra.. -no house... -money is there, but wanting owner to drop 30-50k... but starting to get ready, if its not this one it will be another soon...

Have already asked about chinese sota apollo 85 0r 110hp tractor...???

...Next is the mill... I am looking at the larger Lucus Mill, here in Aust., It has a 750 cc Kholar Motor,(does anyone know what Hp that would be? have one in my Cub 3254 ride on... (not sure if is 28hp or even 32hp?) has been great and worked hard... only prob, -keep crank case breathers clean... or replace bottom end seal...
Anyway, Mill... -will cut with circular blade on a swinging head to over 250mm, so can double cut to over 500mm.. Hers the thing, -It is push by hand, on rails, and am wondering, (cos there is no way they would let me and my walking crutch anywhere near it at the timber show) just how much effort goes into the push... They made it look easy... as they would... -but for me with a shattered pelvis a few yrs ago???
I have always loved my timber, and u would be amazed what i cut with my tiny baby Sthil... and it still has the same compression as the day i brought it...I swear by Revtek 2st oil by caltex... used it for years and in the many MotoX bikes, that the kids and i abuse... (not me of late... oh ok, -once or twice... dont tell the Dr,s...) I one cut an ironbark 22m x 200 x500 beam for a chain block runner, in a shed i cut mostly with that li'll ol' saw... (have a big Husky for felling, and larger stuff now (but am sure li'll ol' saw laughs in contempt at him, late at night in the shed)) and all with a 14" bar and 2x chains... lost a few teeth though... (think i filed the guides a little deep).... but have been flying blind, working it all out by myself, no internet within hundreds of km up the cape where i used to be, now am starting again (on my own -and with my very capable 12yo boy), as i have just started to walk again mostly unaided...after 5 yrs of beds, wheelchairs, and crutches...

Sorry...umm love timber, plant lots of fine and rare trees have this year collected about 1200 bunya pine seeds -just sprouting, 500 silky oak seedlings,300 rarer trees like black bean, teak, ash,and kauri pine, amoung others, and just today probably 3000 flame tree seeds. But the 7 ac i have now is getting crowded, and want to save them for the new place... and let these grow for the kids, they r irrigated... So a mill would defantly be also a hobby, if not a passion... was wondering about the comments on blades, Re. having to sharpen often, and debarking??? should i look into one??? also wondering about cutting patterns and stacking/strapping to reduce warp, -was asked in another thread, but couldnt find an answer.

Not asking for great detail, i can resurch that, just mainly ideas and experienses,or info on where to look, -to save mistakes and make this easier for all of those that may wish to follow and advise on this project... I know its early days, but have learnt that preperation, advice from credible sources and others experiences are invaluable... and i hope to make it as painless for all as possible, but end up in time with something we can all be proud to be a part of... oh btw, the environment is very important to me, so hope to enhance what in some ways is a "poor" block... it has been logged hard 20 years ago, and to a lesser extent 10 yrs ago, but has some Koala protection habitat on it... (the government regulation on clearing, PMAV {map for clearing} is ok for what i need)...

will leave it at that, thanks for reading... Tom. (T.)...

hi again.. walked the mountain assessing timber... was quite supprised... sad 3 deer, not overly worried bout a kid and a old guy with a walking crutch. -5hrs though, a huge day for me...
seems a phone to the property could b a prob and poor mobile reception to most of useable land there... no help from optus phone company.. -just happy to release me from contract, wnd wouldnt talk about boosters or even sat phone options....
checking with vegitation mapping today if possible to get to talk to someone in person...
Then time to make the huge decision... -My 12 yo not too enthused, can see the reality of how much work there is to do... Must ensure he has plenty of time to b a kid... is good there r other kids in area... and a school... ****, even a bus... yay. -yet it feels so in the middle of nowhere....
cheers for now...

Do we realy need a solicitor these days for transaction???, -last place they 'forgot to do all the cheques', and the shed wasnt council approved...???

What state are you in? Just curious because it really depends on region.

Hi, yes, QLD Australia, -tad over an hour from Brisbane.... update, waiting to see if
owner will accept offer on his origonal "lowest price"... -now it seems half a dozen people are interested... and working out GST, and horrid stuff like that... will see... Had a look at Sota Tractor, -still would love any info... they r going to give me the number of an apparently very happy customer, to talk to... lots to do, will be back...
Question...? am replacing tynes on honda rotary hoe... found an old set (very old) -same height, but wider and heavier duty... -wondering if the tollerences and loads will be too much and could break things??? -not an obvious tyne size increase.... -but how fine tuned are they???
cheers for now...
T.
