Kubota BX25, BX1860
John Thomas seems to have one on his BX25. Is this the case for all BX or any other models? My BX25 was purchased in 11/2008, and it definitely doesn't have one.

Can anyone comment on differences between the factory skid plates and the Bro-Tek? I've been thinking about going Bro-Tek, but maybe I should consider Kubota too?

You should be fine either way..Just need something to cover it.

Your BX was obviously manufactured prior to the upgraded shield. I would never call it a "skid plate".

Sometime in the late spring of '09, Kubota made the shield much larger. These are retrofit available for around $40.

Thanks much, guys. Good pic, BP. I take it the general opinion is that the Bro-Tek is still worth the extra $$?

For those who use their tractors off in the sticks, brush, woods, etc?

I'd say almost mandatory.

For those who don't? I'd say the Kubota shield is pretty good.

Of course, leaving a deck on also provides protection, but 1.) not everyone has a deck to leave on, and 2.) most people remove the deck to go into the dirt or into the woods. This all depends on one's usage. BroTek has sold a lot of armor, but by no means to anywhere near the majority of BX owners.

Yeah, that shield is, if nothing else, good public relations, as it shows they're doing something. It certainly is better than nothing. It's a wonder they didn't include it long ago...can't add much to the cost of building. Must be on all new BX models?

I was surprised when I saw it was not on my BX2660 which I've had about a year. I won't buy one for it because it is my main mowing machine and will always have the MMM on it when I get it put back on. Yes, a stick can get around a mowing deck but a stick can get around any that are not total covers which would impede the air flow and sort of defeat the purpose of the fan. So, MMM cover for me.
