I have a 12 year old GMC 6 liter pickup with about 55000 miles on it. I put 1300 miles on it in the past 13 months since the last oil change. It has had a blend of dino and synthetic oil in it chained regularly since new. The dash board registers at about 65% oil life remaining.

Do I take it in or let it go for a few months? And if so, how many?

Depends on your usage. If all short trips I would likely change it in a couple months. If your trips are generally a bit longer where it has time to get good and warm so it could burn off moisture etc, I would change it at the 2 year mark.

Most articles I've read is change at appropriate miles or hours or at least yearly. I've never had anything sit that long except generators so those usually get changed prior to usage. Of course there will be exceptions.
